Thanksgiving Update!

Wow! Howdy family and friends! I am sure that everyone has put all their Thanksgiving decorations away and finished off the last of their yummy leftovers...but I still haven't been able to post about our family Thanksgiving. It was FANTASTIC! So, I'm here tonight with a few minutes to recount what a blessing our Thanksgiving was.

First, Danny and I are so thankful for the home the Lord provided for us this year. This may seem like a funny place to begin recounting our Thanksgiving holiday, but earlier in the year we decided that since this would be our last Thanksgiving in College Station for at least 10 years, we wanted to spend it here. So the call was put out to family to come and visit us, the more the merrier! We would be cooking Thanksgiving dinner for all the Audettes and Johnsons that could attend. Knowing how difficult it is for folks to travel over the holidays, we are so grateful that Uncle Joe was able to come from Los Angeles, and the Johnson clan was able to make it from Tucson. We had a houseful.

To summarize the fun that we had....all the food turned out well. We had enough food to feed everyone (a big concern for me...I've never shopped for 8 people staying for 5 days). We reinforced some of our family traditions - working out Thanksgiving morning, Audette pork sausage stuffing, Johnson yams, pumpkin bread, thrift store shopping, Cabernet Sauvignon & Chardonnay, Granny Lou's gravy, strong coffee, reading, games & manual labor (we made everyone help put in a patio and move the water fountain). Benjamin was never without someone fun to play with - he had everyone running laps through the house, reading him stories and playing matchbox cars on the floor. He is still talking about Uncle Joe! Uncle Zach! Gracie! Grammy! Grampy!

How blessed are we that on our worst days we can wake up and know we have been saved by Jesus Christ! That is more than we deserve, and more than enough. But, the Lord has blessed us - Dan, Corry & Benjamin - with such a wonderful and loving family, a home, with bountiful supplies of food and good health. This Thanksgiving reinforced all of these things inside my heart, and it makes me grateful for each breath and each day. That above all else is what made this Thanksgiving so special in our home.

So, without much more time to write I'll conclude by saying that Danny & I are heading into our "final weeks" in school, and all the fun preparations for Christmas. We are looking forward to Christmas in Tucson and then a SECOND Christmas celebration in Connecticut in January. We love our family and friends and hope this blog updates you on our goings on, and our daily thanksgivings to Christ.
