Hurray for submarines! This year Ben has become very interested in submarines, so this week we traveled to Connecticut to visit the U.S.S. Nautilus museum in Groton. The Nautilus was the fist nuclear powered submarine, and first ship to go to the North Pole. The boys enjoyed walking through the submarine and playing with all the displays (lots of buttons and levers to push!). It was a very interesting and fun day, and being in Connecticut we got to share the day with Meme & Pepe!
Ben enjoyed calling the "captain" and ordering a DIVE!
One of the first submarines was this contraption called the Turtle. Ben recognized it right away and proceeded to brief us about it. "It was called the Turtle because it looked like two turtle shells put together. They tried to drill a bomb into a boat, but it didn't work." Ben knows more about submarines than Mommy, that is for sure!
Andrew has spotted Ben!
Ben, the future submariner.
Andrew enjoyed himself too. Especially this display room with all the buttons!
After the museum the boys tried out their own submarines in Meme & Pepe's pool. Perhaps we have two future submariners. What a fun day!
