Chicken-fried Bacon

Chicken-fried Bacon. Where else but in Texas can you find a restaurant that serves chicken-friend bacon? Needless to say we had to venture to this landmark before we leave the state that will OFFICIALLY will fry anything.

All kidding aside, the Johnson family enjoyed a great day trip on Thursday with our friends Nathaniel, Rainlilly, Danielle and Blake. It was a gorgeous spring day. Our itinerary included a trip to the local ice cream factory, followed up by a trip to the diner that serves chicken-fried bacon. It was a fun road trip around our area of Texas and we were grateful to enjoy it with good friends.

Our first stop was the Blue Bell Ice Cream Factory - however, we found out that during spring break everyone decides to bring their kids to the factory. So, because it was just too crowded, we opted to stop at the local soda fountain and eat cookies and ice cream. It turned out to be more fun than the tour would have been.

Our friends - Nathaniel, Rainlilly, Blake, Danielle...and the three of us.

Second stop on the trip was to the Steak House for lunch. For anyone who doesn't know what "chicken-fried" means...from what I understand it is a process of breading and deep frying a food product. You can have chicken-fried steak, even chicken-fried chicken. But, only at the Steak House in Snook, Texas can you have chicken-fried bacon. (Pictured above next to the onion rings.) Ohmygoodness.

We had a great, fun time - although we do not recommend the chicken-friend bacon - and hope that you enjoy sharing this memory with us.

  1. It was a remarkably pleasant day trip, despite the bacon!
